Most weddings are focused on the bride
Posted in Wedding on 12/28/2010 11:32 am by adminMost weddings are focused on the bride, her beauty, her dress, the little girl being “given away.” All eyes and attention are on her. What about the groom, he was a little boy once too? At your wedding give the groom his due.
One of the most poignant moments of the wedding ceremony is when the bride walks down the aisle with her father as he relinquishes custody of his daughter to the groom. Consider having the groom’s mother stand beside him during this moment and when the bride is given over, have her gently kiss her son and then quietly sit down to watch him begin his new life as the father of the bride does.
After the wedding and the party begins continue to remember the groom. Is the father-daughter dance a touching tear-jerker? Sure. But so can be the mother-son dance. There are many great mother-son wedding songs that can make this dance just as much of a tissue box moment. “A Song for My Son” by Mikki Vierich, “Wind Beneath My Wings” by Bette Midler, and “Just the Way You Are” by Billy Joel are good examples.
So don’t forget the groom and make sure the wedding photos show these touching moments between mother and son.
